The Case for Clinton: The Silly and Serious
The 2012 election was only one week ago, and yet you'd think it was December 2015 from all the coverage that Hillary Clinton's potential presidential bid is getting. I think it's partly because it's hard to switch from full-on campaign mode to all quiet on the presidential front. We can't just go from 60 to zero in our lust for campaign news. And there's the ever-expanding blogosphere monster to feed.
(side note: GIF was made real word this week, but blogosphere is apparently still just jargon)
So here we have two articles assessing Clinton's chances at getting the nod four years from now. One silly and one serious.
First up, Buzzfeed has some fun with the idea by providing a list (the internet loves lists!) of 45 inane reasons to keep hope alive for Clinton '16. It's pretty much all fashion and alcohol related. She has different hairstyles! She does shots!
Sure, it's silly stuff. But it also shows the genuine enthusiasm that Clinton generates even at this early stage. You don't see Buzzfeed putting together lists about John Hickenlooper. Still, let's all keep our fingers crossed for a Hickenlooper, Huckabee match-up. HICK VS HUCK 2016!
The other article comes from the Buffalo News and it basically reads like an early endorsement. In fact, they even go as far to say that:
"She would bring vastly more leadership, experience and judgment to the White House, compared with its current occupant."
That's pretty serious stuff to say she'd make such a great president that you might as well hand over the keys to Air Force One right now. I guess it's not surprising considering how close she came to clinching the nomination back in '08. But those of us who can remember back that far also recall how bruised her reputation was coming out of that primary. By running mostly to the right of Obama, she made a lot of enemies on the left. It is a testament to how great a Secretary of State she's been that those wounds left no trace of a scar. I imagine that the Buffalo News probably leans more conservative democrat, but you'll find the same sentiment over at Daily Kos too.
